FedEx Ground Distribution Facility - Kansas City

The Austin Company provided design and engineering services for an 80,300 SF expansion of the FedEx Ground Kansas City Distribution Hub.

Project Description:

The Austin Company provided design and engineering services for an 80,300 SF expansion of the FedEx Ground Kansas City Distribution Hub. The project consisted of the following areas:

  •  A single 18,000 SF load wing expansion
  •  A 55,000 SF expansion of the unload and local city areas
  •  A 344 SF remote office addition
  •  Installation of a new 3,000 SF linehaul office at the end of the new load wing expansion
  •  A 4,000 SF expansion of the maintenance garage building, which is external to the hub

In addition to the above expansions, Austin also provided services for the demolition of the existing linehaul office, completion of the mezzanine level concrete slab in the Distribution Center area, relocation of the above ground primary electrical service to an underground installation, and all associated sitework, asphalt and concrete paving needs.

Austin coordinated efforts among Bluescope, FedEx Ground’s pre-engineered building supplier; the construction manager; material handling vendor and FedEx Ground Project Manager for utility needs, interference and constructability issues. The hub remained in operation throughout the construction project, so Austin worked with FedEx Ground and the construction manager to develop phasing plans to coordinate construction activities around FedEx business operations.

The Austin Company has provided services for several FedEx Ground locations, including Dallas, Denver, Syracuse and Cleveland.
