Ferro Pfanstiehl High Potency and Kilo Lab

This project consisted of the renovation, upgrade and expansion of the High Potency and Kilo Lab operations. This included a hydrogenation chamber, additional HVAC and electrical upgrades, many architectural upgrades and several pieces of new processing equipment.

Project Description: 

Ferro Pfanstiehl Laboratories, Inc. (formerly Pfanstiehl Laboratories, Inc. and now a subsidiary of Ferro Corporation) specializes in manufacturing and development per cGMP standards. The company produces high-purity carbohydrates and other related organic fine chemical compounds for use as Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), advanced intermediates, excipients, food and cosmetic ingredients, dietary supplements and bio-processing aids. Potent compounds manufactured by Ferro Pfanstiehl include oncolytic, antiviral and CNS-active drugs.

Established in 1919, Ferro Pfanstiehl has been providing custom synthesis and development services for more than 40 years. Registered with the FDA since 1963, Ferro Pfanstiehl maintains more than 25 active Drug Master Files. Specialized capabilities include: potent compound manufacturing, multi-step organic synthesis, complex carbohydrate chemistry, ultra-purification, cGMP-compliant development and manufacturing practices from kilogram to multi-metric ton commercial scale.

This project consisted of the renovation, upgrade and expansion of the High Potency and Kilo Lab operations. This included a hydrogenation chamber, additional HVAC and electrical upgrades, many architectural upgrades and several pieces of new processing equipment. The design conformed to cGMP standards and allowed Ferro Pfanstiehl to continue existing operations while construction was underway.

The Austin Company also provided assistance for miscellaneous capital projects of varying sizes to modify, upgrade or add to existing process operations campus-wide.
