Prime Healthcare selected The Austin Company to provide architectural design, engineering, interior design and construction services for the expansion and renovation of Harlingen Medical Center’s Emergency Department, Imaging and Cardiac Cath Suites, and Surgery Suite.

Harlingen Medical Center, a 112-bed general acute care hospital within the Prime Healthcare System, offers care in a number of specialties: cardiology, orthopedic, gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, wound healing, sleep apnea and emergency care.
Prime Healthcare selected The Austin Company to provide services for the expansion and renovation of Harlingen Medical Center’s Emergency Department, Imaging and Cardiac Cath Suites, and Surgery Suite. Austin is providing architectural design, engineering, interior design and construction services for 14,800 SF of new construction and 11,500 SF of renovated space.
The Emergency Department replacement involves expansion from six exam bays to 20 bays, including two trauma bays, two fast-track bays, and one isolation room. Austin is also providing site improvement services to expand parking to replace spaces lost due to the Emergency Department expansion.
Renovations to the Surgery Suite include a new hybrid Operating Room, relocation of two Endoscopy Rooms and one Cystoscopy Room, five patient prep stations, and expansion of the Day Patient Prep and Recovery Area.
Expansion and relocation of the Imaging and Cardiac Cath Suites include two cardiac cath rooms and a shell space for a third. The Imaging Suite includes CT scan, X-ray and ultrasound rooms.
