Project Description:

When Motorola needed to consolidate operations of 28 leased facilities into a new office and research campus, it called on The Austin Company to design and construct a facility to accommodate more than 4,000 employees.

The Austin Company provided design and engineering services over multiple phases for the campus located in Deer Park, Illinois.

Phases one and two included two, seven-story, 281,400 SF office towers to house Motorola’s Global Telecom Solutions sector. These phases also included a five-level above-ground parking deck with 2,500 spaces and a two-story commons building. The commons building links the towers and houses an entry lobby, meeting rooms and two- story cafeteria, featuring an extensive glass exterior wall. Phase three consisted of two office buildings that were connected to the initial two towers, along with an additional three-level parking deck with 1,200 underground spaces.

The facility was designed so that 20 percent of the 69-acre site of wetlands and wooded areas would remain intact. Pedestrian walkways and bike paths wind through nearly two acres of the grounds.
