Project Description:

Pepperidge Farm wanted to make a change in the production capabilities of its Lakeland, Florida, bakery, so they selected The Austin Company to perform engineering and construction services to carry out their plan. Pepperidge Farm needed to remove a Hearth Bread line and install a new high-speed bread line in its place. Since the new bread line was not able to fit in the space vacated by the Hearth Bread line, the building needed to be expanded to support the project.

The expansion project involved adding approximately 19,500 SF, 45 feet north of the existing production area. The original design for the facility included plans for a 60-foot expansion in this area. To minimize the cost of the project, the existing architectural precast wall panels were relocated and re-used along the north wall of the plant.

Austin was successful maintaining an aggressive construction schedule. The project was completed while plant operations ran continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the entire project.
