Project Description:

This Quality Operations Laboratory for Pfizer, a leading U.S. manufacturer of human and animal healthcare products, accommodates quality control testing and quality assurance of products through every stage of the manufacturing process. Products are tested for safety and environmental analysis and for compliance with the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the United Kingdom’s Medicines Control Agency and other regulatory bodies.

The two-story facility includes six analytical laboratories, as well as instrument, microbiological, safety and environmental laboratories, and a fully-equipped training laboratory. The building contains four miles of pipe, 44 miles of cabling and 1,640 feet (500 meters) of laboratory benching. The building has a structural steel frame with reinforced concrete slabs on metal decking and features glazed curtain walling.

Austin also refurbished an adjacent building that houses support operations for the Quality Operations Laboratory. This project included creation of a stability cabinet room, design and construction of an isolation toxic lab, and upgrade of the building’s façade.
