Project Description:

This mail processing and distribution center in Terre Haute, Indiana, which replaced an outdated facility, was constructed to accommodate an increased volume of mail and to satisfy new U.S. Postal Service mail handling requirements.

The new 150,000 SF facility contains a mailroom for processing mail, a dock platform for loading and unloading trucks, canopies at loading areas for mail carrier vehicles, management offices and a postal retail store. Employee amenities include a lunchroom with a canopy-covered patio.

The building incorporates the latest security technology, including a card-access system and an extensive closed-circuit TV system. The exterior walls of the facility are architectural pre-cast concrete, except at the entrance, where brick provides an aesthetically pleasing entry to the retail store.

The Austin Company designed, engineered and constructed the facility. Despite harsh weather conditions, construction proceeded during winter months, enabling the project to be completed on schedule.
