Kensing completed a feasibility study to utilize the existing A20 Carbon Absorber upstream of the Proposed Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) to recover solvents and return them to the A21 process for re-use at their Kankakee, Illinois, plant. Conducted by the BASF Major Capital Group, the study aimed to address the significant operating costs caused by solvent venting from the A21 process to the Thermal Oxidizer. Partnering with The Austin Company, Kensing advanced the design from the feasibility study to a completed FEL3, transitioning into a design-build approach to streamline the process. The project included integrating existing equipment, adding new components, and making necessary modifications, along with detailed engineering and utility evaluations. This approach allowed Kensing to efficiently implement the design, optimizing solvent recovery and reducing operating costs.
