The Austin Company’s history with Northrop Grumman and its heritage companies dates back to the early 1960’s at the Northrop Hawthorne and El Segundo sites in California, and Grumman Beth Page site in New York. The relationship has since evolved to ongoing project assignments nationwide. In 2000, Austin began formally supporting Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems for ongoing projects at its Space Park Campus in California, including Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, Palmdale, and Rancho Bernardo.
Austin’s services have included strategic long range site and facilities master planning, architectural and interior design, engineering, program and project management, and construction project management for a wide array of facilities, including engineering, research and development, aircraft and satellite manufacturing and assembly, integration and testing, and related support functions.
Representative projects have included new and modernized sector and program offices; design and engineering offices; characterization research and development and electronic laboratories; cleanrooms; aircraft and spacecraft assembly high bays; and mechanical, electrical and infrastructure systems.
Austin services are provided under a multi-year continuing services agreement. The nearly 5-million SF Space Park campus has been undergoing modernization and consolidation programs on the Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach sites, which were originally constructed in the late sixties and house more than 8,000 employees in owned and leased buildings.
